This remarkable charity was formed after four friends, Nick Bonifant, David Conry, Matt Lawson and Simon Lockyer decided to address the issue of young people residing in aged care.

 

The people they are going to help have vibrant family lives, husbands, wives, children, friends and family. They have years ahead of them and they deserve to be able to live those years in a relevant and caring manner. They sadly cannot remain at home as they need the medical support 24 hours a day.

 

This is why Youngcare was formed, to provide a dignified and relevant lifestyle for young people with high care needs. A place of their choosing, a place to call home.

 

As a first step, Youngcare has elected to build appropriate housing that will deliver the care and environment required. The Youngcare apartments will comprise 14 self contained units with kitchen facilities, bedrooms, living areas and private entrances.

 

After completing the first apartments, Youngcare will turn its attention to other locations for housing, and other forms of support and care.

 

Youngcare will continue to raise funds to address this issue and help provide care and dignity to as many young Australians in need as possible.

 

 

 

 

 

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary was founded in 1947 with the aim to connect people with nature throughout interaction. Today, the Santuary is home to 1400 native birds, reptiles and mammals.

 

In its earliest days, the hospital treated wildlife for many of the same injuries it sees today though domestic animal attacks, fish hook injuries and being hit by cars. From very humble beginnings, the hospital now takes on a major community role, treating up to 4000 native animals every year.

 

The Currumbin Community Wildlife Hospital is the only hospital of its kind in the Gold Coast region and provides its valuable service to the public for free.

 

In order to continue providing this important service the hospital needs to expand from the small fibro building it has resided in for the last 20 years, to a more suitable new hospital. To do this, public support is vital.
